So helpful, Kris. I'll be linking to this post; I'm sure many others will benefit from your openness.

Thanks for the post. Good timing too. Lots of bad news has surfaced in the past few days for me and your post was great timing. Coincidence? Probably not.
Just wanted you to know that reading your post gave me the courage to talk to Brody's teacher who just lost her father last week.
It gave me the courage to step out of myself for a second and offer whatever I could to a friend and their family who aren't quite sure what they are dealing with.
It gave me the courage to call a friend who sat with her mom yesterday as she received not so good news about cancer.
So, thanks!

Cards in the mail are nice. Someone to come over and DEAL WITH ALL THE FLOWERS after a memorial service. That is priceless.

A gift of nice thank you cards so you don't have to run out and buy them.

And one of my favorites is memorials. Donate to your church, salvation army, your school anything and send an acknowlege to the family. It lets them know that you didn't forget their precious family member years down the road.

GREAT POST!

Tracy

good words for all of us.

Kris, this is excellent--10 is a good number of things to remember and they are all encouraging and getting beyond ourselves, what we grew up with, what we have always thought...thanks for sharing on a very important 'stepping stone' in this walk of life.
Love you!
